Every system in a modern building runs over cabling: computers and phones, printers, Wi-Fi, IP cameras, access control, intercoms and building management controls. When that cabling is poorly installed or undocumented, every future change becomes slower and more expensive. Why cabling quality matters

A network is only as reliable as its physical layer. Cable run too close to power, over-bent at corners or terminated carelessly can cause intermittent faults that are very hard to track down. Unlabelled patch panels mean a simple move of a desk can turn into an afternoon of tracing cables.

Warehouses bring their own challenges: long runs to dock offices and scanning stations, Wi-Fi coverage across high racking, and cabling that must be protected from forklifts and dust. Getting the design right at the start avoids dead spots and damaged runs later.

Capacity is the third consideration. It costs very little extra to run spare cables to a location while the ceiling is open, and a great deal more to come back later. We will suggest where spare capacity makes sense, such as meeting rooms, reception areas and anywhere cameras or access points may be added.

We work with your IT provider on the active side of the network, such as switches and configuration, and focus on getting the physical infrastructure right so they can do their job quickly.

What you receive

At handover you receive test results for each cable, a labelling schedule that matches the patch panel and outlets, and marked-up plans showing where points and access points are. That documentation is what makes moves, adds and changes quick and cheap in future. It also gives your IT provider a reliable picture of the network without having to trace anything.

Where it fits with our other trades

Because our electricians install the data cabling, power and data are planned together from the beginning. New workstations get power and data in the same visit, and cabinets get a dedicated circuit rather than a power board. Our security installers use the same cable routes for cameras and door controllers, and our HVAC team can connect BMS controllers to the network properly. One contractor, one set of drawings.
